1) Oceania Cruises offers cooking classes in its state-of-the-art “Bon Appetit Culinary Center.” These courses are done in partnership with the renowned magazine Bon Appetit. This is one of the few cruise ships that offers full hands-on culinary instruction. The center features 12 cooking stations, which seat two people each. The preparation of a variety of different types of cuisine is taught, including Italian, Thai, and Mexican food. The classes are $69 per participant.
2) Celebrity Cruises is a cruise line that holds “Food and Wine Cruises,” which has stops all across Europe and offer tours to various famous vineyards.
3) The Italian cruise line, Silversea, not only gives its passengers the best in wine and fine cuisine, but also offers free cooking classes aboard their cruises. David Bilsland and other renowned chefs host the classes, which range from beginner classes to courses for advanced cooking techniques. You will also be given lectures and video tutorials on the wines that you will get to taste while on your cruise, and at the cruise stops, tours will be offered to various vineyards. On the ships large dinners are given, which will feature all sorts of fine food created by world-class chefs.
4) Princess Cruises offers “The Chef’s Table”: this gives you a chance to eat a full-course dinner with 5-10 other guests and watch the chef prepare the entire meal. The dinners cost $95 per guest.
5) Chef Jean-Pierre Vigato, one of the most renowned chefs in France, frequently teaches classes and cooks on the Paul Gauguin Cruises.
6) Holland America Cruises (which are more inexpensive than the others featured on this list) have “culinary arts centers,” where classes are held and demonstrations given.
